Mr. Deepak Bhatnagar graduated in Metallurgical Engineering in 1971 from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Later, he also obtained Postgraduate Degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business Management. He is a member of the expert evaluation teams for new R&D projects in European Union, Department of Science and Technology and Steel Development Fund under the Ministry of Steel.
His 47 years professional experience covers Steel Industry in SAIL, Department of Science &Technology (DST, TIFAC) and teaching (at State University of New York, IIFT and Glocal University, Uttar Pradesh).
He was Adviser & Scientist ‘G’ with Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), and Department of Science & Technology (DST). During his tenure at TIFAC (1990 to 2009), he has handled several programs related to Technology Development in the area of Metals and Materials, International Cooperation and Forecasting/Assessment studies. He was the nodal scientist to prepare the Technology Vision 2020document on Materials and Processing under the guidance of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then, Chairman TIFAC.
With his prowess in public speaking and knowledge on national & global affairs, he won the coveted “Group Study Exchange” award of Rotary International in 1974 to give invited talks in USA. His hobbies include creative writing, theatre and talking to school children on the wonders of science.
Presently, he is Secretary General, Pellet Manufacturers’ Association of India (PMAI).
